Back 🏡 again from #MESO2025 in Ferrara, Italy, where I finally got to meet the faces of the field.
A Mesolithic-specific week like this only comes along every 5yrs, so I appreciated every minute of it. Now it's back to the Paternity bubble 🫧🌷
#MESO2025
Really enjoyed immersing myself in the Mesolithic this week thanks to #MESO2025 online - so many great presentations. Loved all the unexpected details... cutmarked human remains, hunting blinds, eating turtles and cetaceans and pika, extremely mysterious series of pits... Just fab.
Today our PI @idegroote.bsky.social presented the project and the results so far on the #MESO2025 in Ferrara
This week I'll be watching the #MESO2025 conference in Italy from my home in France. I'm forever grateful for things being online these days - thanks to the organisers and technicians for making this happen.
Conference Poster for MESO2025, titled "Reconstructing seasonal patterns High-resolution analysis of limpet shells from Oronsay"
For anyone who can't be at the #MESO2025 🏺conference this week, please have a look at our poster, either directly here

Anyone attending #MESO2025 in Ferrara next week and doesn't have an excursion ticket, please get in touch and I'll arrange for you to use mine.
Students preferred!
🏺
backfilled archaeological trench
pot boiler rich with yellow residue on it
limpet shells in archaeological layer
All packed up!
Now it's time to get to the lab:
A stone with lipid residue wants testing (don't have many of those in the Mesolithic), lots of charcoal samples, and heaps of shells for LIBS-analysis. Stay tuned or come see our poster at #MESO2025 in Ferrara.
