Die Mülheimer Skulptur „Lebensfreude“ ist ungefähr drei Meter hoch und fünf Meter breit. Sie zeigt drei Mädchen, deren Röcke jeweils an Bug eines Schiffes erinnern. Sie stehen nebeneinander auf einem ca. 1,20 m hohen Sockel, so dass wir als Betrachter direkt davor stehend die Plastik gar nicht komplett erfassen können. Der ideale Betracherstandpunkt liegt also etwas entfernt, beispielsweise auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite. Das gesamte Kunstwerk ist auf eine Fernsicht hin konzipiert. Das Werk ist signiert und datiert mit "AH 1963". Das rechte der drei Mädchen hält einen Wimpel, auf dem zwei angedeutete Möwen zu sehen sind, die als Löcher dargestellt sind. Diese Löcher geben den Blick frei auf die Ruhr.
