Ahnaf Ibn Qais (our beloved neighborhood DOOM merchant 🥰) has this awesome essay about how "northern courage" was (might have been) just another form of a coping mechanism as collapse unfolded.
A main theme in his essays I've come across is the absence of #myth in western #MMITC… which feels right.
