The Michigan Public Service Commission just gave DTE a $240 million raise. That’s a 16% increase on top of their $1.5 billion in net income last year. When was the last time you got a 16% raise? Why do we allow utilities to give money to our elected officials? #mopupmichigan

Two tweets from Craig Mauger, today: 1. A nonprofit that supports Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall got $750,000 from a DTE-backed group in 2024, according to a tax filing. 2. For much of 2024, the Michigan Public Service Commission, appointed by Gov. Whitmer, was considering a rate increase sought by DTE. Also, in 2024, Michigan Energy First gave $550,000 to the nonprofit staffed by Whitmer's former campaign team.
When the biggest monopoly utility in MI can throw this much money at lawmakers on both sides of the aisle - they get what they want.
