Screen shot from facebook, where Rick Sloane, the director of "Hobgoblins", commented below my painting of a hobgoblin from Jackey Neyman Jones' online art class, THE HANDS OF PAINT.

Rick Sloan says, "Look up Louis Wain and his bizarre cat artwork.", with an image of the poster from MST3K version of his movie, Hobgoblins. The hobgoblin resembles a green and blue psychedelic "cat" demon, with glowing eyes, large ears, and shaggy blue fur; the monster's mouth is slightly open and grinning/leering. The illustration style is cartoonish, and psychedelic with repeating lines which almost make it look lizard-like. It has no resemblance to the puppets used in the movie and is a much cooler interpretation of the titular monster. A green line below the word "HOBGOBLINS" creates the iconic theater seats and test subject silhouettes of the crew of the satellite of love.

My comment below his post reads: "Holy moly, Rick Sloane commented on my post! Wow! Thanks, sir, never thought in a million years you'd see my Hobgoblin art. Yes, I'm familiar with Louis Wain. Love his work too. Very inspirational. Thank you! Wonderful and wild."

and there's a blue "like" emoji from him on my comment too

My painting of a Hobgoblin, inspired by the cult classic film of the same name.

The portrait is of a furry blue teddy-bear-looking cat demon, with large slit yellow eyes and a menacing grin, against an amorphous grey background. The brush stroke style is kinetic, energetic, and slightly undefined, as the creatures from the movie are supposed to be aliens who can manipulate what you see.

Title: "Gatto Mammon"

I had so much fun painting this image and the movie is so silly and ridiculous it makes me laugh every time
