This time of year is peak rutting season for many of our UK #deer species, but did you know that muntjac deer do not have a specific breeding season (rut), and instead breed all year round? #MammalFactMonday

Polecats are mostly solitary apart from when males and females come together to mate from the end of February to beginning of April and over summer when juveniles born that spring will stay with their mother until dispersal in August/September #MammalFactMonday

Water voles have to eat 80% of their body weight (60-360g) per day to survive! They tend to sit and eat in the same place, so piles of leftover vegetation may be found by the water's edge, showing a distinctive 45 degree, angled-cut at the ends. #MammalFactMonday #MammalMonday
