We're gonna need a bigger boat ... A goldfish inspired by a Koala-type Petpet and a turquoise-green fish based on a Lion-type Petpet float against a gloomy, black ocean, utterly enraptured by a hypnotic blue light. Luckily for them, the blue, aquatic cat Petpet with a cycloptic eye has the wherewithal to notice the looming creature the light is attached to. A shark-adjacent Neopet with an underbite full of jagged, knifelike teeth watches the enraptured gathering hungrily. It's gnarled body is stocky and dark blue, rendering it almost invisible in the dark but for twin rows of bioluminescent lights that run from head to tail.

I haven't been excited for many recent pet colours, but I have to admit #Maraquan Jetsams have something going for them. Unfortunately, drawing this made me desperately want one.

So now I have one.

An aquatic Draik: a type of draconic Neopet that is usually winged. This one instead sports a large fin down its back that flows into a graceful fish tail. Its white body is banded gold and purple. Additional purple fins flow alongside webbed fins for ears, and two long, catfish-like appendages drift from its nose.

And another classic: If you had asked me 20 years ago what #Neopet I'd want most of all, it would have been the incredibly rare, coveted, and downright gorgeous #Maraquan #Draik.

My friends and I would spend hours around the computer, arguing which was prettiest of the pets we couldn't afford.

An aquatic variation of an Ixi, a goat-deer-adjacent Neopet. It's furred, orange body is fringed with blue-green frills like a Leafy Sea Dragon, with elongated ears looking more like additional fins and sporting two small, stunted horns striped in green. It wears a necklace of off-white-and-pink corals and shells, and camouflages against the teal-blue background.

I love #Maraquan and #Mutants #Neopets, mostly because they stick very close to their old poses.

The Maraquan #Ixi is such a classic, I simply had to draw one. Sadly this did not make it into the Art Gallery for Ixi Day, but those caustic effects were fun.
