Isn't this beautiful? As mentioned earlier in the week, Marguerite's brother-in-law was Jean-Honore Fragonard. She became his pupil after moving in with him and her sister at the age of 14. You can see his influence beginning to show in her work.

As you have already seen, Marguerite frequently featured a dog and/or cats in her paintings. The same little Spaniel pup looks longingly at the plate of milk that the cat seems to be enjoying. I love the subtle message of a cat's personality.

The last of seven children, Marguerite went to live with her sister and brother-in-law at the age of 14 after the death of her mother. She ended up living with them 30 years because she became a pupil of Jean-Honore Fragonar.
