Matthew: I know some think he'd be into D&D, and I agree :) some 80's consideration is the moral panic during then. If a said a headcanon, this costume whether his older sibling or his (older siblings introducing younger siblings to their interests), would be used in the campaign. Wanna get in character? Kevin: Based on my comparisons of him to cats. I couldn't figure out other costume ideas that he'd actually wanna wear, so projecting that by saying he'd be so excited for Halloween he'd not know which costume and settle with the cat. All that and settled for something basic. Jack: I thought it would be fun if he mixed together costumes. I've been listening to horror clown type of music like Departing Sanity (Dark Deception) and Hokus Pokus and I've seen users make Jack an entertainer role. The Jack-o-lantern is a pun.. I also wanted to reference that Doey pumpkin in the official art (hey Jack's holding sm like that :D) I won't be ranting about metaphorical stuff, though here's what I heard from someone who lived their 80s life about halloween stuff back then and I got these: They stopped trick or treating in elementary. You'd be considered queer if you did and "time to grow up". Even parents wouldn't want them to. My Jack headcanon where he's treated like an older kid for looking older reminds me of this. I do see my Kevin also liking Halloween. It does give me an idea that while he's got this [prior to playcare] mindset that other kids are immature, he realizes he likes this 'immature thing' and still wants to continue doing it. Meanwhile Matthew has more "act mature" pressure.

No lighting And since you're reading this, I'm gonna likely make an untagged Matthew post regarding these certain takes when it comes to romance. Misleading title, but I heavily relate to Matthew and I think if people heard what it's like for someone like him, then users won't just go "wow this is gonna he ooc and boring", because it's complicated. Things like one-sided crushes unable to be reciprocated due to being on the aromantic spectrum. So you have a clue what I wanna do. I did this in ibis paint where I used my traditional art and colored it in from there. This took three days.

Joseph's 1993 hat concept. In my not yet out fic cover art he doesn't have a hat and it's 1990, but I didn't wanna add a hat so I made it a future thing. He got it from doing well with academics, which he usually sucks at, so he got to choose something from the reward box and what do you know? A limited edition Boogie Bot helmet! He doesn't wanna anyone taking it, so he tries hiding it by wearing a beanie over his helmet.

Kevin can easily make friends but isn't good at keeping them until there's no one left. I've seen troublemakers still have a friend group, so the "friends" heads are circled and there's movement blur for change. Ones pointing, pointing at someone to fight, accusations, and the other with a fist. An adult is scolding him for a fight he's in "same kid throughout comic", and pointing. Kevin follows in his parents example through showing his frustrations through violence. He's never enjoyed feeling pain himself and would rather harm others instead of potentially being harmed again, and if he thinks they're gonna hurt him, he's attack them even in moments of intense play because "I'll hurt you before you hurt me first". He doesn't wanna be seen as an animal, a monster even. Horns and tail for problem child status. Black tank top to show his injuries he's gotten from said fights, no facial scar since it's the past before the incident. Looks at hands to see what he's fighting with. Either at Playhouse or the school. Likely Playhouse because Matthew is noted to break up fights there. The incident is shown how he got his scar where his mom scratches him. Kevin has a canine tooth to show "dog". Matthew being there is what's noted of him, understanding

The start of the comic was to put in the perspective of Joseph, who's about 4, when his dad would come home. Hearing the door open but not exactly seeing him, but knowing it's dad. If dad caught him up that late (2:12PM night), how'd he react, and if it was a good time to greet him The part where Carter's opening a bag in what's sorta Joseph's perspective, the border looks like a picture frame, but Carter's facing away to reflect the absence. In the background of the closeup hand/bag, a picture frame of Joseph's mom (named Rachel) is with a vase of flowers to foreshadow, there's a calendar marking days (idk, up to interpretation what's marked), Joseph's shoes (no shoelaces) to reflect his age. Also doesn't have some teeth yet (didn't do references for it so may be inaccurate) Rachel died of a heart disease/attack, which is based on (present in about 1985 I'd say) where it was considered a "man's disease" and I've seen a comment section about it say how it ruined them when their mom died because they glanced over it. You'd see her hand is placed over her heart in the pictures. Jack reminds Kevin of Joseph. For that, "Josie" and "Jackie" (also scp 529 reference cause thought it was a cute [nick]name), how Joseph would cry for his parents, and would've lead a similar life to Jack's if his mom didn't die

Ironic how Carter is an underpaid Playtime CO worker. Did you notice the VHS parallels. That his bff also got sick, like, very very sick. Like his mom

I like making plays off words, like it Joseph's comic title. One interpretation is Carter trying to make their situation work out after Rachel died which lead to poverty. The other interpretation is the Bigger Body Initiative where they "make it work", the "it" being the toy, making them work
