Wake Up Dead Man
Really nice story with great characters, especially the main one. I also liked how it explores modern Christianity within American culture but also includes the more genuine aspect of religion without being overbearing, something I dont see often.

Weapons
One of my favorite films this year. From its unusual storytelling to incredible performances, this movie left its mark for me. Would like to watch it again soon.

Pool Kids by Pool Kids
Incredibly good music; this band is really starting to grow on me. This has strong, powerful sounds that juxtaposes their earlier album that has a more mellow tone.
Album cover for Amir by Tamino, featuring Tamino floating on a body of water, his head appearing above it.

Amir by Tamino (2018)
Discovered this artist out on a whim, and im glad I did. A nice blend of mellow & somber sound, indicative of Radiohead/Thom Yorke, along with rich vocals. "Habibi" & "Tummy" were my favorites. Gonna check out more of this artist.
Tron Ares Soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails, with red text of the title and NIN logo on a black solid background.

Tron Ares Soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails
Crazy they made a whole movie based on this album. Nice electronic, intense sounds. Not as orchestral as the Tron Legacy soundtrack, but it stands out on its own. "Who Wants to Live Forever" is my favorite.
Album cover for Tunnel Vision by Beach Bunny, featuring a girl in a skirt and sweater laying down & leaning on a stool in her bedroom. A heart-shaped mushroom cloud appears outside her window.

Tunnel Vision by Beach Bunny
Really enjoyed it. It had a more punk sound compared to their previous album. "Clueless" & "Pixie Cut" were my personal favorites
I'm sorry, this year's media thread was a disaster. Too many things happened that made me neglect noting games, TV shows, movies, and so on. I think the sum of those things should be around 60-80, with mostly games.
Don't know if I'll repeat the experience. #mediathread2025
#mediathread2025
Since i have such a hard time recalling what I've played/done lately I figured I might as well put together a late 2024 - 2025 media thread for stuff I got through/things I'm enjoying! Art courtesy of: @riversausage.bsky.social
First thing?
Detroiters cover featuring Sam and Tim both giving a thumbs up
20: Detroiters
GOD this show was so funny, Tim and Sam have the best chemistry too
I really wish it hadn’t been canceled so we could have more episodes 😭 But at least we still have ITYSL!
Anyway definitely check this out if you can, especially if you enjoyed the humor of ITYSL

19: Dark Places
This book was ADDICTIVE like I had such a hard time putting it down each reading session
Really scratched that true crime itch too while still thankfully remaining fictional
#mediathread2025
18: Bye, Baby
This book activated my inner gossip for sure, I couldn’t put it down bc I NEEDED to find out what happened to make the characters Like That™
I do think there was one late-story reveal that made a character less interesting but overall this was a decent read for me

Cover art of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
I finished 13 Sentinels this weekend and I can't recommend this game enough. Incredible story, beautiful art and music, amazing characters, its such a masterpiece. I've never been so sad to be finished with a game. 😭 #mediathread2025
Rugrats in Paris movie poster
17: Rugrats in Paris
Somehow I had never seen this? It was pretty good!! And I'm glad to finally know where Kimi came from xD

steam splash art for A Game About Digging A Hole
16: A Game About Digging A Hole
Exactly what it says on the tin xD I had a lot of fun with this game and I definitely recommend trying it if you haven't yet!! The digging is so satisfying :D (no there is nothing weird down there... nothing at all don't worry about it... *wink*)
#mediathread2025
Mulholland Drive movie poster
15: Mulholland Drive
This movie grabbed me by the brainstem and then twisted it xD The ending confused me and I feel like I wanna decode the whole movie so I'll probably watch it again sooner rather than later
Definitely recommend, it's so mindfucky and I love that kind of stuff
#mediathread2025
Lost Highway movie poster
14: Lost Highway
I was so invested in this movie even though I barely had a clue what was going on in some parts. It was really cool to see this as a fan of Silent Hill 2 since this definitely inspired that game in a lot of ways 👀✨

Piglet's Big Game cover art
13: Piglet's Big Game (PS2)
I kind of knew the vibes of this going in thanks to the internet but GOD. This really is just a horror game for kids xD
I really did enjoy playing it even through all the jank! There's just something about wonky licensed games that appeals to me :3

inbento game art - features a white cat making a bento box lunch for her orange kitten
12: Inbento
This game was so adorable. I loved having little puzzles to do before bed on my Steam Deck ❤️ and it was such a sweet way to show a story of a family growing up!
I did have to use hints for some puzzles but tbh I chalk that up to me always playing when I was sleepy

Starting my 2025 media thread! I just do mine monthly but I could be talked into making individual posts if it’s preferred. I just keep this in my Notes app and take a screenshot of it every month. Feel free to ask about my opinion on anything! #mediathread2025
Blue Velvet movie poster
11: Blue Velvet
There really isn’t a word to describe this other than “Lynchian” lol
I was locked in and couldn’t stop watching but it was also so stressful and brutal
Anyway this movie might be what happens if you’re nosy. The risk is up to you if you find an ear on the ground!

Michigan Report from Hell box art
10: Michigan Report from Hell
Y’all I can’t even believe this is a real game. It’s so bad it’s hilarious. It’s barely playable. It ends super abruptly. And it doesn’t even take place in Michigan???
I am really glad I experienced this, it was a trip and a half xD
#mediathread2025
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) promotional image
9: Who Framed Roger Rabbit
I spent years afraid to watch this movie because I saw the shoe scene out of context as a small child and it traumatized me
However. This movie FUCKS. I'm so glad I've finally seen it xD The way the animation interacts with the live action is so cool!!!
#mediathread2025
Dune (1984) movie poster
8: Dune (1984)
This movie was really cool. Absolutely loved the visual design, and it had a great soundtrack. Kyle MacLachlan did a great job in this movie too :3
Shoutout to Bee for running David Lynch movie marathons in her server so I can become cultured
#mediathread2025
Eraserhead movie poster
7: Eraserhead
Ok so this was a wild ride. This movie is so weird and freaky, but in a good way? I was absolutely enthralled. Sound design was on point as were the practical effects, really sold the freaky nature of everything :D
#mediathread2025
box art for Link: Faces of Evil
6: Link The Faces of Evil
Holy CRAP this game was wild - it’s somehow jankier than Wand of Gamelon?? It’s certainly A Game™ that’s for sure
also I’m very glad I got to experience Morshu in all his glory 💣
#mediathread2025
Castle in the Sky poster
5: Castle in the Sky
This movie is gorgeous and it clearly influenced so many other media that came after it. Things like Final Fantasy, Zelda, one of the Professor Layton games, just to name a few off the top of my head.
I’m so glad I’ve finally seen this! I really liked it :3
