Happy #Megalesia!
From 4–10 April, Romans honoured #Cybele - the Magna Mater. Her cult arrived in #Rome in 204BC with the ecstatic #Galli priests. Ancient writers describe wild processions with drums, flutes, shield-clashing dancers, rose petals & incense before chariot races at the Circus Maximus.
