M is for the Philippines island of Mindoro. At dawn on Feb. 24, 1942, a ship that snuck past Japanese blockades and escaped Bataan the night, before anchored near the Mindoro town of Pola. Among the ship's passengers were newlywed reporters Melville and Annalee Jacoby. #MelAtoZ
