I have just realised that:
- @tweissgerber.bsky.social also spoke brilliantly at #Metascience2025, telling us to 'Disturb shit!'
- my profile pic is a stuffed baby polar bear, taken at The Polar Museum during #Munin2023
It is apparently a small world after all

Research funders using metaresearch to monitor and improve their policies and processes and their analytical and experimental capabilities to optimise the research base. Our piece in @resprofnews.bsky.social following our panel at #metascience2025

This episode is so great I hardly know where to start! The last ~15mins will be especially interesting to metascientists, including the most thoughtful plan for reforming scientific/research funding I think I’ve ever heard. Wow! #Metascience2025
Extract from linked article reads: “We support efforts to strengthen open science, to democratize access to data, and to transparently display analytical choices to make them available for scrutiny. We also recognize that limits on transparency and participation in science have historically been essential to the functioning of modern science, protecting 'truces' negotiated within communities of experts that allow scientific work to proceed (Edwards 2019). Removing those limits will have consequences for the functioning of core scientific infrastructures such as the peer review system, which are likely to be strained by demands to do both more and more difficult kinds of adjudication work. A responsible approach to opening science therefore requires a greater understanding of the function of frictions and limits in existing scientific systems, as well as more attention to the potential consequences of scientific data reuse.”
Still following up on many of the threads I came across at #Metascience2025. Found this recent preprint on ‘adversarial reanalysis’ by @nicolecnelson.bsky.social & colleagues provocative and insightful. osf.io/preprints/me...
This was a big topic at #Metascience2025 and should be top of mind for anyone who cares about #equity in education, healthcare, climate, you name it.
#metascience2025 crowd, great opportunity!

Just back from the #Metascience2025 conference in London! Excited about new collaborators working on reproducibility, evidence aggregation, and standardizing reporting in social science research.
In case you missed our panel, here are two of the papers we shared 🧵
For those who missed it at #Metascience2025, @katiecorker.bsky.social kindly recorded our session on "Transforming research communication: innovations in publishing, peer review, & curation" and you can check it out here: youtu.be/6d-LJYbNBmE
IP4OS participated in #Metascience2025 to explore how IP can enable Open Science!
We launched the Synergy Framework to help institutions align their legal and research strategies, as well as shared plans for training teams in 2026.

En un momento clave para la ciencia abierta y la mejora de los sistemas de investigación, nace la Metascience Alliance, una nueva coalición global presentada en #Metascience2025 para impulsar la transformación colectiva de cómo se hace, evalúa y comunica la ciencia. 👇
I have discussed this kind of response to the Metascience 2025 conference with many colleagues, and reached the conclusion that the conference was the launched of a new subfield: Corporate Metascience.

Having spent a week recently at #metascience2025, I found a great deal to chew on in @jamestplunkett.bsky.social’s post on how to make big institutions (science anyone?) less sclerotic. medium.com/@jamestplunk...

Some reflections from @scurry.bsky.social and @jameswilsdon.bsky.social after hosting #Metascience2025 last week - as we all continue digesting the insights and engaging with the interesting post-conference discussions: www.researchprofessionalnews.com/rr-news-poli...
Science of science has been used to improve research integrity and assessment.
Last week I spoke at #metascience2025 calling on the community to look further, to improve interdisciplinarity, trust in science & more

At #metascience2025 I tried to listen carefully and talk to lots of people (though still not nearly enough!)
‘Metascience can improve science — but it must be useful to society, too’. Good, thoughtful editorial in @nature.com on #Metascience2025 & the new Alliance

Glad you found it useful, I suggest browsing the #Metascience2025 hashtag if you have not already. There are a number of good posts/threads from different perspectives.
#AnaPersic, ?s of inequity need evidence/data to underscore the cost of inequity. The case of what diseases are studied in terms of global populations is a good example (see #Metascience2025 findings). How could #equity evaluation shape where we shift $$ for research?

Similar to #Metascience2025, GlobalSouth/Non-EU participants continue to push @unesco.org @openaire.bsky.social @ec.europa.eu on the impact of these #OpenScience monitoring beyond their borders.
