The mysterious, London-born #MinaLoy (1882-1966), depicted wartime New York’s underbelly, an innovative Modernist poet & writer in the inter-war years.

This Saturday #RachelSpence & I mark the end of a group show inspired by Loy at Camberwell's Outhouse Gallery

Why Mina Loy I noticed that IG Agent 18 had been on a Mina Loy kick lately and I wanted to know why. These are the notes that came out of that…

There were a lot of poets from the early years of the last century in the English language.

I think the male who has aged best out of them all is W.B Yeats, and the reason I think is sex.

Final section of Mina Loy’s “Anglo-Mongrels and the Rose” (2), The Little Review 9(4), 1923

its star tipped handy-pandies
darting on the air

Solemn and unsurprised
and clumsily
lapped by insensitive maternity
it lies
waving its brand new feet
and feeds
its mongrel heart on Benger’s food
for infants

MINA LOY
*NOTE:—“Anglo-Mongrels and the Rose” will be published in book form by the Contact Publishing Company, before another issue of the Little Review can possibly appear. We will not continue the poem in our next issue but close with the entrance of Esau Penfold.

Does anyone have a copy of the full poem (especially the last section) of “Anglo-Mongrels and the Rose” by Mina Loy? I’ve heard it’s included in The Last Lunar Baedeker (1982, not the Lost Lunar Baedeker) but I can’t find anywhere that’ll ship that book here😢 #minaloy #poetry #book
