During the #ModocWar, a group of 53 #Modoc warriors soundly beat a #USArmy force of 400 in First Battle of the Stronghold on #ThisDayInHistory in 1873, in northeastern California. The Modoc had no casualties; the US suffered 42 killed and many wounded, and was forced to retreat.
