A strike will never be effective if the end is pre-scheduled.
Strikes only work if the opponent is compelled to make concessions in order to end the strike.
A strike must inflict long-term financial loss on the opponent.
A one-day strike doesn't do that.
#MontgomeryBusBoycott lasted for 13 MONTHS.

15 years before the #MontgomeryBusBoycott, two young Black women were arrested and gaoled on #ThisDayInHistory in 1940 for the 'crime' of sitting in the middle section of a bus in #Virginia. #PauliMurray & #AdeleneMcBean courageously refused orders to use worse seats in the back.

#CivilRights activist #RosaParks was born in 1913 on #ThisDayInHistory in Alabama. While dishonest US history texts claim she triggered accidentally the #MontgomeryBusBoycott because she was tired, she was a militant who had fought racists with bricks and called #MalcolmX a hero.

Rosa Parks took a stand by taking a seat.
Born #OTD in 1913, she is known as the "Mother of the Civil Rights Movement" for her refusal to give up her seat on a segregated bus in 1955.

The path toward #CivilRights has never been peaceful or easy. On #ThisDayInHistory in 1956, the home of #MartinLutherKingJr was bombed in revenge for his leadership in the #MontgomeryBusBoycott. His wife and infant daughter were home and inside, but were fortunately unharmed.

Yesterday, we lost a civil rights pioneer, Claudette Colvin. At just 15 years old, she refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus in Montgomery. Her courage became a pivotal part of the case that ended bus segregation. May she rest in power.

Sparked by the courage of INerasable Legacy Rosa Parks, the boycott proved the power of organized action and forever changed the course of the Civil Rights Movement.

Persistence doesn’t fade. It delivers. INerasable.

A Black woman watches the KKK walk the street in Montgomery, AL. Today is the 65th anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. It lasted Dec 5, 1955 to Dec 20, 1956, when Browder v. Gayle took effect. For one year, Black folks walked + carpooled. ONE YEAR. Bless them. Thank them.

Fred Gray represented Rosa Parks 70 years ago. Now 94, he fears US is 'going backwards' "... If one person can come and change everything, then we (as a nation) are in serious trouble," said Gray.

#MontgomeryBusBoycott. But now, Gray worries that the #progress he and so many others fought for against those problems is under threat and says that the nation is due for a second #civilRightsMovement.”

70 years ago, the Montgomery Bus Boycott began. Rosa Parks’s arrest sparked it, but months earlier, 15-year-old Claudette Colvin had already refused to give up her seat. Tens of thousands joined the boycott, fueling the civil rights movement. 🚌✊🏿
