If I try and imagine a realistic counterfactual where the #GenocideinGaza took place, I am forced to go back to #Egypt, and the most hopeful moment during the Arab Spring, when #Morsi was president.
The coup, and the #RabaaMassacre (anniversary next week), were groundwork for this slaughter.
My instincts tell me that if Mohamad #Morsi, had he not been removed in a coup to the cheers of progressives globally, would have long since changed the conditions on the ground that have made this genocide possible.
Or maybe Israel would have nuked Cairo. We'll never know.

Today is the 12th anniversary of the 'June 30' protests in #egypt. These were the precursor to the coup that brought #Sisi to power, deposing #Morsi who later died in custody (actually in court).
Progressive/alternative media like @democracynow.org supported these protests, and the coup.
If #Morsi and The Brothers were in power right now, this war would not have happened. The siege would have been lifted well before 2023.
The whole region would have hope and a sense of direction.
We killed all that in 2013, and removed any hope of Arab resistance to Israel.

The Muslim Brotherhood, of which Hamas is an offshoot, is the liberation movement of the Arab world.
The most important enabler for the Israeli/American war machine is the Egyptian government, a military dictatorship that @dropsitenews.com's main Middle East correspondent cheered into power.
