Murders Are Rued (scene/song)
Murders Are Rued (scene/song) Later in Act One, Poe and Death talk about his writing. He meets Rufus Griswold for the first time and they try to one-up each other in a comedy song called "Murders Are Rued." Of course, the title is a nod to Poe's famous detective story, "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," which inspired an entire fiction genre. Arthur Conan Doyle credits Poe's character, Inspector Auguste Dupin, as being the inspiration for Sherlock Holmes. You'll catch quite a few jokes buried in the song.
