The Mozarthaus is a really fascinating museum; I've got nothing to show for it as photography is not permitted, and the gift shop only accepts cash (even though I paid for my ticket with a card 🫠), but you can learn a lot in ~90 minutes in there.

Did a bit of composer-spotting around sunny Vienna yesterday!

Three major statues in the Stadtpark (Strauss, Bruckner, Schubert), and the exterior of Mozart's only remaining apartment in the city.

An abstract, oil on canvas painting of two musicians; one is playing a fiddle while the other is playing pipes, likely uilleann pipes. The colours are mostly muted, but become brighter and more concentrated and centered around the instruments themselves, suggesting the colour is coming out from the music.

For our next #MusicMarch post, we’re sharing John B. Vallely’s ‘Piper and Fiddler’! Musicians are a frequent subject of Vallely’s work.

You can visit this work in person at Hillsborough Castle, with 13 others from our collection currently on loan!

This morning I was at the second of two Klaus Makela & Orchestre de Paris concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus.

Treated myself to a much closer seat for this one, and it was well worth the expense. Superb double Rachmaninoff to start the day.

Tonight is the first of two Klaus Mäkelä & Orchestre de Paris concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus.
