Winston Armstead
A graduate of St. Xavier High School, Winston has built a strong career in the insurance industry. He currently serves as a Supervising Agent with American Income Life Insurance Company and works through Globe Life’s American Income Division: Holtz Organization. With years of leadership experience in Sharonville and Loveland, he has committed himself to helping families secure their futures — living out the principle that honesty truly is the best policy.

Summertime used to feel like a few months of freedom. No school. Pools open. Concerts in the park. Late-night parties. A time of wonder. In the same way that plants begin to grow in the spring, it always felt like creativity grew in the summer. Cincinnati music — specifically hip hop — was on full display. Think “I Used to Love H.E.R.” by Common. Winston, like many of us, might have been right there — either in the thick of it on stage or in the thin of it in some basement. Either way, he was part of those rich cultural moments that have since evolved into the content we consume today. Delivered by a man who might be a performer, producer, storyteller, musician, oral historian — or simply a griot.

Some of the things I said about Jarvis Tubbs (also #MyHiddenFigure), I can say about Winston Armstead. As “Special Agent 3,” he is a co-host of Destroy All Podcasts. Alongside the “Three Times Dope” crew of Cincinnati — Rob Natural (General 5) and Javier Fuego (Lieutenant 1) — Winston (Special Agent 3) helps ensure the show doesn’t just report on culture; it actively builds it. They curate beats, rhymes, and dialogue from a Midwestern tri-state vibe spanning Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, shining a light on the musical comfort food that has been served in this region for decades.

The show they are a part of feels like a subtle nod and flashback to the golden age of hip hop — reminiscent of The Get Down (2016–2017) on Netflix, and maybe even echoing the vibes of The World’s Famous Supreme Team Show from N…

William D. Bell, Jr.
Perspective. This man provides that. I might just be going about my business complaining about where I have to park, how long I might be somewhere, and how security is harassing me about my choice of parking space. Later I might have an unrelated conversation with this man and realize that maybe there is a reason and purpose for designated parking spots. Something so simple that may be lost on me. I know I have even complained randomly and anonymously (as I sometimes do) not knowing he was the one to actually be on the receiving end of those complaints. Having a one on one about the incident(s) gave me time to do a paradigm shift. His wisdom, kindness, patience, and attention to detail is unmatched. I've been in the room where he has to present and attendees come after him verbally about situations and scenarios that may not even be under his control or jurisdiction. I applaud his efforts. I'm in awe when he handles conflict so effortlessly and with empathy. Cincinnati, Ohio is so small and it has been an honor to grow up here where we get to cross paths every now and then and even work together.
A former officer with the Cincinnati Police Department, William Bell devoted his career not only to public safety, but to building bridges between law enforcement and the community. During his time with the department’s Youth Services Unit, he focused on strengthening relationships with young people, ensuring that protection also meant mentorship, guidance, and opportunity.
Today, as Director of Safety Services for Cincinnati Public Schools, he oversees safety operations supporting more than 35,000 students across 68 school buildings, leading 171 security personnel with vision and accountability. His leadership ensures that students, educators, and families experience learning environments rooted in security and trust.

Taneka Smith
I looked up 'fill someone's shoes' and found the Cambridge Dictionary's definition was "to do someone’s job or accept someone’s responsibilities." I thought about this during the time when I met Taneka Smith, but we can all walk in our own shoes and create our own footsteps. She does just that.
We greet each other with a call and response that comes partially from the song Give It Up by Public Enemy (1994).
Her: How you doing?
Me: I'm alright if you're alright!
Outside of the confines of the school, she also makes sure to show up. When a staff member had his comedy debut, she was part of the team of coworkers who showed up to cheer him on (and laugh at his corny jokes LOL!). We ALL laughed and hooted and hollered. I did a "Tommy from the Martin show" big ole slow laugh behind the DJ booth. Maybe some folks might say it was just a little thing but that in itself was heartwarming and inspiring. Showing up matters.
Growth. Strength. Guidance. Friendship. All appreciated!

Sydney Barnes-Kroner
One of the people that I highlighted a few years ago is a Professor of Practice at The American University in Cairo and now this person was a student at The American University in Cairo. Go figure. Cincinnati / Cairo Connectivity!
Most of my day is spent doing IT stuff. Every now and then there might be a time or a situation when someone has a problem and we might have to work together to resolve or at least have a deeper conversation to understand what the problem actually is. All part of the job. I remember one time when the conversation that started about trying to troubleshoot technology ended up in what felt like a mutual therapy session with a long lost family member. So much so, that she actually gave me a hand written thank you card!
Now forever my 'play cousin' who has wisdom way beyond her years and I'll always appreciate her.

Shiauna Clark
A woman who wears two hats — and wears them both with grace, strength, and (even though this picture may not show it) a great big smile! Fun fact, she don't play! I promise we have had conversations about the worst situations but at some point she'll make sure to say that the Lord has got her. No matter what. I appreciated those reminders and her GREAT BIG SMILE more that maybe she will ever knew. Maybe she knows now!
By day, Ms. Clark serves as a dedicated paraprofessional within the public school system, offering steady guidance, patience, and encouragement to students who need it most. She understands that education is more than instruction — it’s connection, compassion, and consistency. Her presence in the classroom is a reminder that sometimes the most powerful lessons come not from a textbook, but from someone who believes in you.
When the school bell rings, her work doesn’t stop. As an Assistant Director for an after-school program, she continues pouring into young lives, helping create safe spaces where growth, creativity, and confidence can flourish. Wearing both hats seamlessly, she proves that impact isn’t confined to one role or one title.
She was even part of the team to support fellow educator and coworker, Dr. Jeffrey Glenn during his comedy debut at Radio Artifact, 1660 Blue Rock St Suite 0, Cincinnati, OH 45223. No matter the circumstances, Ms. Clark shows up like a ray of sunshine — steady, uplifting, and dependable.

Shawn Clemons
I think I remember meeting Shawn at The Lincoln Statue Park near the intersection of Forest Avenue and Reading Road. This area was kind of a hot spot. There was a free concert near there at Woodward Park. I think it was Zapp. We crossed paths often after that. Doc's Place in College Hill, Radio Artifact in Northside, Midwestern Regional Black Family Reunion Celebration in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.

Originally from the East Coast, Shawn has always been wise beyond her years and seemingly brings a different perspective to Cincinnati. Social media kind of connects folks from far and wide even when life happens and goes physically and/or geographically in different directions. I may have mentioned that 2025 was a tough one for me. I talked to Shawn a few times throughout that year and each time I realized how her perspective was and is truly appreciated. The topics don't seem to matter. Real estate. Finances. Life. Relationships. Iron sharpens iron.
Kind & Gentle: Providing a soft place to land when the world feels abrasive.
Strong & Grounded: Offering a sturdy shoulder to lean on during the hardest times.
Wise & Insightful: Delivering clear-eyed advice when life becomes a maze of confusion.

What stands out is her clarity. Her ability to listen deeply. Her kindness without weakness. Her gentleness without passivity. Her strength without stress. I am forever appreciative.

Ronald Williams
The owner of the William Frances Theater, Ronald Williams is a visionary entrepreneur and community leader based in Cincinnati, Ohio. A man of deep passion and persistence, he has dedicated himself to preserving history, uplifting his community, and creating spaces where creativity and culture can thrive. His work stands as a powerful example of what one individual can accomplish when driven by purpose and a genuine love for the people around them.
Williams's most notable achievement is the restoration of a historic building in Cincinnati's Carthage neighborhood, originally constructed in 1928. After the structure fell into significant disrepair over the decades, Williams saw not a crumbling building but an opportunity to restore both a landmark and a sense of possibility for the community. He began the painstaking restoration process in 2018, pouring tremendous effort and resources into bringing the space back to life.
At the heart of Williams's work is a firm belief in the power of representation and ownership. He understands that when communities own their spaces, they own their narratives. By creating a platform for voices that are too often sidelined, he has demonstrated that inclusion is not merely a concept — it is the active, daily work of opening doors and ensuring they remain open for others to walk through.
Ronald Williams may not be a household name, but his impact resonates deeply across Cincinnati's neighborhoods and beyond. He is a builder of dreams, a supporter of artists, and a quiet force for positive change. His story reminds us that some of the most meaningful contributions to culture and community come not from those in the spotlight, but from those dedicated enough to build the stage itself.

The road to restoration was far from easy. Williams faced long nights, unexpected setbacks, and the extraordinary challenge of completing his project during a global pandemic. Today, the theatre he built stands as a reflection of his character: warm, inclusive, and deeply rooted in community. Under his leadership, the space hosts an remarkable range of events, from weddings and comedy nights to jazz performances, art exhibitions, and community gatherings. Williams has cultivated an atmosphere where neighbors, artists, and families alike feel genuinely welcome and celebrated.

Prentis Howard Jr.
AKA PJ AKA what I tell people that PJ stands for "Pimp Juice"

This one time, a position opened up. I was blessed (or cursed) to be part of the panel that interviewed the candidates. PJ showed up and it was a proud moment. In some respect, I had no horse in this race but in other cultural ways, I did. In the same way that Issa Rae said back at the 2017 Emmys "I'm rooting for everybody Black." I was just happy to see PJ (and others) just go for it. Closed mouths don't get fed. Beyond our normal banter that moment when he stepped up to go for that position as great to see and experience. Leading by example and potentially showing others that sometimes that's all it takes is to just show up. Step up. Let others see that you're willing to move forward and maybe they will too.

As a School Community Coordinator (MyTomorrowTech), Prentis stands at the intersection of education and innovation—empowering students, supporting schools, and strengthening communities through technology. His work ensures that young people not only have access to digital resources, but also the guidance to use them to build brighter futures.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Science from DeVry University, Prentis has steadily built his career through roles in IT service management, systems analysis, and technical support. From serving as a Tier II Analyst supporting enterprise operations, to working as a Field Technician, his journey reflects resilience, growth, and a commitment to excellence.

Certified in ITIL® Foundation and grounded in ethical decision-making, Prentis continues to expand his expertise in Information Systems and IT Security—always learning, always evolving.

Nicci Riddick
“Divapreneur” - Event Planner / Special Event Promoter-Planner-Bartender / Efficiency Expert
Indianapolis, IN
Back in 2023 I started noticing some similar things happening in Indianapolis that were happening in Cincinnati. First there was some roller skating rink activity. Then there were these DJ Festivals. NapTown DJ Fest in Indianapolis and Stereo '23 in Cincinnati. I paid a bit more attention to Indianapolis and realized that Nicci Riddick AKA Mz. Make It Happen is deeply embedded in NapTown roots, culture, and entertainment. It's an honor and a blessing to just watch her MAKE IT HAPPEN!
In a city powered by visionaries and doers, Nicci Riddick stands tall as one of Naptown’s most impactful forces behind the scenes. This week, the spotlight shines brightly on the Indianapolis “Divapreneur” as she is nominated as a Trap Inductee by Trap Got Sol and Jerk Junkies — a recognition honoring business leaders who exemplify excellence, consistency, and impact in the city.
A quiet yet formidable strategist, Nicci Riddick has built a reputation as a master event planner, promoter, bartender, efficiency expert, merchandiser, manager, and business consultant. Through her brands — AudaciousLife, AudaciousLifeIndy, ExploreIndyFun, and NapTownDJFest — she has helped shape some of Indianapolis’ most dynamic independent events, leaving her mark across multiple industries.
She is, without question, not just a Naptown treasure, but maybe even a global cultural ambassador.

There are some people who just might know the answer, but sit quietly. There are other people who don't know the answer but will quickly and loudly speak and gesture as if they do. I've been in quite a few situations with this man where he just might break the ice and share a nugget of wisdom but will often sit back and allow the other bulls in the china shop to causes damage, disruption, or chaos in a delicate situation requiring careful behavior. Sometimes we'll comically lock eyes knowingly. He'll drop bombs of common sense or wisdom and sit back like Santa Claus with a twinkle in his eye, watching others open their minds like they're opening the gift of knowledge that he just brought down the chimney. He's a foodie, a hustler, and seeker of information.

I listen to the calm and straightforward delivery and think, I hope I'd be able to come across like that. Just when I'm thinking that he's like my mentor, he hits me with a Uno Reverse card! I appreciate it but I'm just over here marveling at his upward trajectory.

Graduate of the School for Creative and Performing Arts, Aaron blends creativity with technical excellence in a way that sets him apart. He continued to expand his talents at The Ohio State University, where he sharpened his skills and deepened his commitment to excellence.
Now a CompTIA Certified Security+ professional and a dedicated Information Technology Support Technician, Aaron brings heart, hustle, humanity, and maybe a great big helping of common sense to just about any situation.

Marc Rozier
Each time I'm around Marc I think I'm reminded indirectly of how much history and longevity he has in education and in information technology. Tribal Knowledge is a phrase that comes to mind. Another one is the Collective Genius. Working at another job, we used to take pride in the fact that when and if someone came in the door with a question or a problem, that collectively we would find an answer or solution. Marc often has the answer, solution, or say the next thing to have a different conversation. Coming from the two different paths, education and information technology, offers a unique perspective. Marc is a former educator who continues to serve our young people in a different, but equally meaningful way. Now a deskside computer support technician in the school system, he ensures that classrooms stay connected, teachers stay supported, and students have access to the technology they need to succeed.

I remember being a bit of a fly on the wall during a situation where he stepped up to the good of the team. He could have just said "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." It had the vibes of Spock in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982). Attempting to move the needle in the right direction. Cryptic? Maybe. I didn't find out until a few years later the motivation of that action and I appreciated it even more. Always one to offer an extra USB-C hub when needed, follow through with the work flow, or just offer a good laugh whenever possible.

Marc Rozier Each time I'm around Marc I think I'm reminded indirectly of how much history and longevity he has in education and in information technology. #WhoAreYOURHiddenFigures? #HiddenFigures #MyHiddenFigures #BlackLivesMatter #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistoryMatters

Lamont LaMonte (Dj Sly Luv)
Cincinnati still just seems to be so small. Sometimes it’s like driving around I275. If you go around long enough you'll start seeing the same things. I've mentioned before that the entertainment industry or local music scene is small enough that you bump into people either all the time or eventually at some point. Taking a term from DJ Vader, the "tiny island" of Cincinnati is full of creative and cultural people doing creative and cultural things. Back in the late 1980's the State Theater was reopened as Allison's West End Theater. Not only were there movies being shown but there were concerts (Kook Moe Dee performed there) and also talent shows. It was an honor to be invited to spin with the great DJ Pillo (also #MyHiddenFigure) at Northside Tavern on Friday December 12th, 2025. I'd see him mostly online every now and then for the past few years, but it was a pleasant surprise to see DJ Sly Luv show up as the host. Not only did he host, but he took the time to say some wonderfully kind words about me that I so much appreciated.
Sometimes Cincinnati Ohio reminds me of a Netflix series called The Get Down from 2016 (WOW 10 years ago), which I highly recommend. So many people, groups, acts, etc. performed at Allison's West End Theater, the Young Adults Pavilion at the Midwestern Black Family Reunion Celebration, Bogarts, Convention Center, the Regal Cinema, and many other places but it is always good to run into folks in person. People who were building and creating who are still building and creating to this day. He has been a part of this community for decades and has been a member of Selectas Choice.
SELECTAS CHOICE
is a Cincinnati-based DJ collective and collaborative project.
Whenever I see Lamont, I know the room is indeed full of luv, full of DJ Sly Luv.

Josh Johnson
I've seen this guy here and there but what really made me take notice and subscribe was his breakdown of the Kendrick Lamar Superbowl performance. It was no less than amazing. At the time of this post I'm waiting for his next video. When and if he breaks down Bad Bunny's Superbowl performance, I suspect it will also be amazing. I thoroughly recommend his work. In an era where division seems easier than connection, he shows us how comedy can be both intelligent and accessible, both challenging and comforting. His work has impacted me personally by demonstrating that positivity and critical thinking aren't opposites—they're partners in making sense of this beautiful, complicated world we share. Josh represents the everyday champions among us who may not have movies made about their lives, but whose influence ripples out in ways that matter deeply to those paying attention.

#Father #Tech #Emcee #Engineer #Writer #Philosopher #Husband #Son #Brother #Cousin #Uncle #Etc
With decades in tech, customer experience, and leadership, he blends heart, hustle, and high-level problem-solving into everything he touches. From IT troubleshooting and team development to creative storytelling and entrepreneurship, he’s the kind of connector who makes systems work and people feel seen. As CEO & Founder of Visible Grid Media, he transformed a home-based idea into a thriving multimedia business — helping individuals and organizations bring their visions to life through technology, audio, and service excellence. At the same time, he’s risen rapidly in leadership roles across retail and communications spaces, proving that integrity, consistency, and care still win. But beyond the résumés and roles, he is a mentor, thinker, and community bridge-builder — someone who solves problems, uplifts others, and keeps the energy and the music moving forward. Cincinnati is lucky to have him in our area, in our beats, in our rhymes, and in the very fiber of our city.
#WhoAreYOURHiddenFigures?
I’m trying to start a positive movement by sharing #MyHiddenFigures throughout #BlackHistoryMonth. I seek not to take away from Black History Month. I seek to add positive energy to it. There seems to be a push for inclusion and acceptance, but there is a lot to celebrate and many people's champions all around us. I'll be posting images daily of folks who may have impacted me personally. Everyone may have someone like that. We might not make a movie but we might start a movement. If you like this idea please follow suit and share YOUR Hidden Figures on social media platforms throughout the entire month of February.

I may have mentioned that I hung out quite a bit at the outdoor Riverfront Rink at Sawyer Point in Cincinnati Ohio during 2025. The staff was always warm and welcoming. I'd lend a hand every now and then. Just about every time I'd see this guy Greg German running speaker wire, connecting speakers, and testing amplifiers or specifically surround sound stereo receivers, etc. It was impressive. Grabbing bits and pieces from various auctions sites but all with the goal of improving the quality and quantity of sound at the outdoor rink which would potentially improve the roller skating experience.
Whether he's keeping free skating rolling at Sawyer Point as Cincy Parks' newest rec specialist, or bringing that showroom shine back to your vehicle through his mobile detailing business QueenCity Autostyling, Greg shows up with professionalism, passion, and a "magic" touch.
From restoring 14-year-old headlights to look brand new, to making birthday dreams come true with meticulous car details, Greg brings excellence right to your driveway. But more than that, he brings heart—working for hours in the heat, serving with a smile, and an uncanny level of expertise in many areas. Many areas might include Cincinnati but maybe more recently Atlanta.
Sharing the floor at Orbit Fun Center up in Huber Heights Ohio may not happen again soon. Not sure if he'll hit the floor at Icy Hot in Columbus in 2026 since it looks like he's relocating.
He might just be moving on permanently to the ATL but he PERMANENTLY left his mark in the Queen City. Skater. Coworker. Friend.

This is what impact looks like: movement that builds health, culture, community, and joy — one skating session at a time.

Donjuan Fasho
Program Director/Midday Personality Radio One Cincinnati
2025 Cincinnati Black Music Walk Of Fame Top Influencer
Mentor for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America
A powerful voice and positive force in Cincinnati — both on and off the airwaves. As Program Director and Midday Personality at Radio One Cincinnati, Donjuan doesn’t just entertain, he uplifts, informs, and connects the community every single day. Recognized as a 2025 Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame Top Influencer, his impact stretches far beyond music — shaping culture, inspiring voices, and creating space for stories that matter. And as a dedicated mentor with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Donjuan pours into the next generation, proving that leadership is about service, not spotlight.
Hard to believe in some ways that I've known this man for DECADES! People's Champ! We rarely crossed paths in the days of radio but we'd cross paths when out and about. He'd show up hosting some event that I was either attending or working. The Center for Closing the Health Gap's Health Expo, Back to School Registration Parties, the Midwestern Regional Black Family Reunion Celebration Parade, and this man is out in these neighborhoods using his platform to amplify hope, opportunity, and excellence. Beyond all the times that he's on stage, announcing, hosting, being the master of ceremonies, there's usually a personal moment. Nothing big. A handshake, a warm greeting, and appreciation of who he is and how long he's been at it. Maybe some of those laugh out loud 'you da man, no YOU da man' exchanges. Celebrity status does not appear to change his down to earth nature. He's a good dude. Cincinnati is better because of him. Over the years he's just been there and it's always a pleasure to see him and to be seen by him.

Sometimes I have to remind myself of who I'm working with. Not only are they professionals but also friends and neighbors and even embedded into the fiber of the community. Brandon Stewart (seemingly one of many Brandons that I work with) fits all the categories. Humble. Quiet. Strong. Technical. Coming from a structured private environment and diving into this local public entity where we just make sure to make it all work. Definitely a team player and if given the opportunity a team leader although we're often ready to just grab an oar and keep the boat moving forward. We're usually off on our own working individual projects and tasks but we have shared experiences, acquaintances, and conversations that become additional food for thought and food for the soul whenever we get a chance to break bread or share space. Maybe a small thing for some but a big thing for me whenever I get a few minutes to connect. You are appreciated!

Andrea Newbill Hicks
A Career Based Learning Specialist with Cincinnati Public Schools and a true behind-the-scenes champion for students, families, and futures.

Andrea is the kind of professional every community needs — flexible, resourceful, organized, and deeply committed to helping others succeed. With over a decade of leadership and workforce development experience, she brings excellence, heart, and purpose into every space she enters. Whether navigating complex systems or supporting people one-on-one, Andrea moves with grace, efficiency, and impact.

She may not always be in the spotlight, or give me the bus passes I keep asking her for (LOL) but she shines her light as she lights the way for so many. Thank you for your service to our staff, students, children, and our community. Find her in the Greater Cincinnati area directly or indirectly helping young people or you might find her at your local roller rink! She is everyday greatness walking or skating among us.
