This week in #NAFOBasicTraining101, we're writing evaluations of the following "usual suspects" of disinformation pushing:
The Children’s Health Defense: childrenshealthdefense.org
RT: rt.com
InfoWars: infowars.com
Gray zone: thegrayzone.com
@bobbyscott.house.gov
This week in both #NAFOBasicTraining101 & #NAFOResearchTraining202 , we are talking about analyzing data.
Understanding how quantitative information is collected, aggregated, and represented is an important skill for good #InformationHygiene
This week in #NAFOBasicTraining101 we are talking about conspiratorial thinking.
We are all susceptible to it; good #InformationHygiene is just like bodily hygiene: we have to get into the habit of practicing it every day if we want to keep from getting stanky.

Last week in #NAFOBasicTraining101 , we finished up the unit on To Document, & the students wrote their "spy" papers (practicing close observation & objective documenting).
This week in #NAFOBasicTraining101 we are practicing CLOSE and OBJECTIVE observation.
Both are difficult but essential skills for a writer, information warrior, and a spy. 😎
Remember: check your perceptual & cognitive biases at the door.
How well did you do, #NAFOFellas ?

Thanks! #NAFOBasicTraining101 is sorta like spy school--how to observe carefully & objectively & document what they see--so there's no book. But #NAFOResearchTraining202 is research writing on disinfo, so we're using these 2 books. In case your students are interested. 🫡
This week in #NAFOBasicTraining101 we're examining perceptual & cognitive biases, & how they interfere with objective observation & lead to faulty decision-making.
This week in #NAFOBasicTraining101 & #NAFOResearchTraining202 , we are talking about #InformationZones
This week in #NAFOBasicTraining101, we're working on recognizing the difference between FACT & OPINION.
Yes, there is a difference! (no, we don't live in a "post-truth world; you can never be 100% sure that a fact is true, but you can get very, very close with a bit of effort).
