Chicago. NASW 2025. Neurodiversity.

I gave a talk that came from the heart. The room was packed — and what I left with was clarity:
This is still the work.
This is always the work.

Overflowing gratitude 💜

At #NASW2025, my neurodiversity workshop had every seat filled—with folks sitting on the floor & standing in the back. Being in that room reminded me why this work matters.

Thank you to everyone who showed up. I’m humbled & inspired.

What do social workers really think about social media?
At #NASW2025, “Bias,” “Privacy,” and “Connection” topped the list. The takeaway? We’re watching carefully—and we want social media to work for, not against, our values.

No demographics. It was a live Menti poll during my opening plenary. Participants included #NASW2025 attendees in the room and those online. Unfortunately, not much recent rigorous empirical research on social workers and social media. Needs to be!

At #NASW2025, social workers said they rarely use social media professionally (1.9/10)… but rated their frustration with influencers misusing “trauma” & “narcissist” a 7.2/10.

We’re watching. We’re cringing. Maybe it’s time we started posting. @naswsocialworkers.bsky.social
