Fair Use, a deer with a unicorn's horn and dressed in a suit, but without his cutie mark, is carrying two books with his magic, one having an ionic column (signifying philosophy), and the other depicting a lab experiment (signifying chemistry). He feels distressed over these books, saying as he is looking upwards "Oh no... which to choose?"

Fair Use has his eyes closed, still carrying his books, continuing to agonize as he says "Such a hard decision..." On his flank something flashes, and a scales of justice is starting to form there. Meanwhile, the two books are merging.

Fair Use looks over at his flank, pleased that he finally has his cutie mark, a scales of justice balancing two Erlenmeyer flasks, saying, "Well, that worked out nicely." The book now depicts a scrolled paper with a red ribbon on it (signifying patent law).

"Of course, it'd feel even more worth the effort of going through tight spaces, translating ancient texts, and getting past traps if there was something by the end to make up for what we got through to get there, instead of an empty treasure chest of a note saying 'ha, ha, you snooze, you lose'..." "Bearing in mind that those spaces are only 'tight' because of your, ahem, figure, and that I'm the one who handles all of the translation work..." "Yeah, yeah, that's what I meant to say..."

Cookie and Syntax look back at Pastel with their smiles restored, and Pastel smiles in return. "But like we said, the journey itself is what makes it an adventure, not getting treasure or goodies by the end. We always bounce back from little disappointments like that, because at the end of the day, we've had a new experience to look back on, and a new story to tell, and I know how much you love those. That's what makes them especially worth it."
