To clarify, the 5% goal is fake
It is 3.5% which super expensive and unrealistic in the short term. The other 1.5% is coding a bunch of stuff as defence contributions such as mining critical minerals, building up ports or roads or cover resilience. #NATO2025
Watching the Hungarian parliamentarian talk about defense spending reminds me: spending does not mean contributing. My biggest gripe about focusing so much on defense spending relative to size of economy says nothing about who actually helps NATO do defense stuff. Greece, Hungary? Ha.
