This illustration formed the frontispiece for Frank Wilkinson's book "Australian Cavalry: the N.S.W. Lancer Regiment and the First Australian Horse", Angus and Robertson, Sydney, 1901.

It is believed to be a portrait of Captain Charles F. Cox of the New South Wales Lancers.
