Can you guess why I might be visiting a pharmacy?
MUCH more interesting🧵about this coming up soon!

It's Mask Week this week.
It’s school holidays, so I've been masking less than usual, but here are some of the places I've worn a mask.🧵

...in different places around the world, in the same time period, indicates a likely novel, common cause.
Politics & capitalism are already running interference to keep these out of public view.
One thing is 💯 certain - there's NOTHING good about getting infected.

Kicking off #NYMaskWeek with my Friends Don't Let Friends Breathswap Barefaced stickers - remember "Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk" from the 90s?
More to come all week!

An apropos reminder to kick off #NYMaskWeek.
Also keep in mind the official rate today is 300 American deaths per week.
That's the floor, counting only when a death certificate lists COVID as the official cause.
A fatal stroke at age 35 after 10+ re-infections, that's "just a stroke".
Background message of the silhouette of New York State, with an N95 respirator NEW York Mask Week May 25-31, 2025 Mask up - tap in!
WHAT IS IT? At its simplest, NY Mask Week asks folks across New York State to commit to masking up for collective health for 1 week. Bigger picture, NY Mask Week is so many things- an invitation to co-ideate with folks inside or outside your region, a tangible solidarity action, a vessel to meet like-minded folks, a way to truly embody intersectional values, & so much more. It may look different place to place, but our intentions are rooted in deepening our practices of community care.
WHO'S IT FOR? ◦ Folks looking to opt back into masking up • Folks who are "still COVIDing" or trying to avoid airborne illnesses • Folks needing access to free PPE including masks and rapid tests • Folks wanting to fight things like fascism, mask bans, and oppression towards Indigenous Black, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, houseless, elder youth & other marginalized beloveds You know your area best! Do your part to call in your community and invite your neighbors in!
HOW TO TAP IN There are so many different avenues to tap into this effort! The following list are just some suggestions for community members, supporters, artists, dreamers, organizers, mask blocs, and anyone interested in being a part- even if you aren't sure how. Again - you know the landscape where you live. We trust you to accommodate, adjust, and fine-tune as needed. NY Mask Week should look a bit different from place to place and the needed roles will be different too. Lean into figuring things out together!
Heads up - #NYMaskWeek is coming May 25-31!
#CovidIsntOver, & this is a time to concentrate efforts to fight for public awareness & action.
Last year this was organized in the Hudson Valley, now we're expanding to the whole state.
More details to come!
