We missed #NationalChristmasCardDay yesterday so thought we would post this ad from 1925 anyway...better late than never. We weren't sure what a 'covey' was but have found out it's a small flock of birds or a small group of things. ๐

๐ฎ The 1st commercial Christmas card was commissioned by Sir Henry Cole & designed by John Callcott Horsley in ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ in 1843 & showed 3 family generations raising a toast to the card's recipient.
๐ฎ Queen Victoria was the 1st monarch to send a Christmas card.

It's #NationalChristmasCardDay. This is seen as the first. In 1843, w the UK postal system expanding, Henry Cole wanted something other than the traditional letter exchange - festive (wine included!) AND a reminder to the elites of the real meaning of #Christmas. It's needed today. #wine #winesky
