Spent a sunny day with the lovely Stroke and Brain Injury Group at Growing Sudley yesterday. Gave them a little talk on the Mersey Estuary to belatedly celebrate the Wildlife Trusts' annual #NationalMarineWeek 🐬

My first full(ish) day out since my accident 14 weeks ago - not that I'm counting 🙄

It's #NationalMarineWeek which is a time to celebrate the UK's seas and think about how we can help marine wildlife 🦀🐬🐙🐟🦐

Even though we are a landlocked county here in Worcestershire, there are still plenty of things you can do every day to make our sea healthier 👇

Not all reefs are coral. Some are made of chalk, a rare and important habitat 🪨 Chalk reefs support seaweeds, sponges, and anemones, and provide shelter for species like tompot blennies and lobsters. #NationalMarineWeek

Get down to your favourite beach and pick up any plastic pollution you find. Any litter removed from a natural ecosystem helps wildlife and creates a better space for humans too!

Nature’s underwater city 🪨

Rocky reefs offer a solid surface for seaweeds, anemones, sponges and sea squirts to grow and create crevices where crabs, fish and other species find shelter. #NationalMarineWeek

🌊 It’s #NationalMarineWeek! Yes, we know — #Shropshire is not by the sea.

But our wild #rivers and #wetlands still have a big job to do. What happens here affects ocean life there 🐚 #Pollution can travel from field to stream to estuary.

📍We may be inland — but we’re not out of the picture.
