"Bellows Early Light with Ravens," Acrylic on cradled wood panel, 8.75" x 11.5" x 2", September 2011"

Greens, golds, and silver gray rock formations abound in this work. The darker foliage is conifers; the brighter green fans, not a clue. Similar to locust trees back east but I can't say that was what they were, other than a lovely tree.

"You cannot see the Grand Canyon in one view, as if it were a changeless spectacle from which a curtain might be lifted, but to see it, you have to toil from month to month through its labyrinths." โ‰ˆ John Wesley Powell

There are days, when all is right, when the morning began in the perfect amber of a dawn, and from the break-light of dawn's giving way to day, we know we are there. Attuned to what is bound to be that perfect day. More often it happens with photography. But at times, on those perfect days, you set up to see one view, and the Sun which is before you slides his rays into the Bellows, and you see what must have been seen by thousands of eyes on thousands of days before you ever came into existence. It happens more often with painting, for we are here longer, immutable in a way, with our place of being.
