#NationalTruthAndReconciliationDay
I moved to Canada 7 years ago and learned about the history.
I was heartbroken to hear what First Nations people had gone through and what they still go through.
I made this poster a few years ago to commemorate the day.

This art honours spirit name of the NCTR [NCTR.ca] – bezhig miigwan. See each Survivor as a single eagle feather and to show those Survivors the same respect and attention an eagle feather deserves. Check out their site and learn.

Today is #NationalTruthAndReconciliationDay, so grab your orange shirts, but don't stop there! It is a great time to unlearn and #Decolonize our minds and society. Educate yourself and others, spread awareness, join community gatherings, donate to #Indigenous orgs, and buy Indigenous. Solidarity ✊️
Graphic with all-orange background. On the left side and centred top to bottom is a white heart that has two orange feathers coming down from the top left of it and a smallish orange maple leaf in the top right corner of it. From mid to right of the graphic reads in white all caps font: “NATIONAL DAY OF TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION” and just under that in smaller white all caps font: “ SEPTEMBER 30”
Graphic with the words “National Day for Truth and Reconciliation” centred and typed top to bottom in black font, except for “Truth and” which are large bolded white font. Words are laid overtop a slightly angled orange maple leaf which itself is overtop a smudged thick black line, like as if done by a wide paint brush.
Every single one of your indigenous friends are either a residential school survivor, a survivors child, a survivors grandchild, or all three. Every Single One.
