Since the Philippines is very near the equator, the daylight hours and sunset times do not vary dramatically over the year, but it is still noticeable.
The base map is from 1:10m #NaturalEarth. Map rendering is via the browser using #D3js and #GIMP for compiling the GIF animation. 🧵 2/3

The app finally renders an initial SVG image using #NaturalEarth as the world base map.
I then used @inkscape.org to manually adjust labels to avoid overlaps and then @gimpofficial.bsky.social for final touches. 🧵 3/3

To create this map, I coded a simple web app and wrote some JavaScript to render an SVG image in the browser. I *could* have used QGIS but thought it was more fun to do the projection math myself and use SVG+CSS to style everything the way I like it.
