Naturalistic watercolor illustration of the Svalbard reindeer. It shows a detailed scientific plate presenting the animal in side view, head studies, coat colors, and some explanatory annotations. Realistic style, on a light background, taken from my collection of Arctic animals.
Close-up of the original poster. Here we see reindeer digging through the snow in winter to access the tundra for food. Also shown is the main watercolor. A male reindeer with antlers in the process of growing.
Watercolor portrait of a Svalbard reindeer with its cute little round face. We also see a detail from a painting showing a polar bear chasing a reindeer. This is something that can happen, but it's not that common. The main cause of reindeer mortality is lack of food due to the harsh climate.
The final version of the poster is available online in my Redbubble store along with the rest of the Arctic animals collection. These animals are painted with great attention to detail in watercolor to create posters that are both artistic and scientific!

A field sparrow painted in watercolor. It sits on a beach of a wild rose with bunch of red rose hips. I added Indian Grass as its color goes well with the sparrow while providing nest materials and food sources. I hope you enjoy it.
