We had the absolute pleasure to welcome Emily and Tansi from Beaverhill Bird Observatory to our grade 5 classes today!
We learned about how birds fly and got to be close to a real owl. Tansi is a Great Horned Owl and she comes from Ontario.

Great snowshoeing today! Students spotted hare tracks (their back leg tracks looked the same as our snowshoe tracks!) crossed by a canine set. Based on the straight line, small size, and lack of human prints, we think coyote or fox. What do you think?

Great explanation by the @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social on why nature does not block growth, in fact, it is the very foundation on which growth is built.
Misunderstanding around this is why we must put nature at the heart of learning π±

The results of the DfE report on #ClimateLiteracy in Year 11s were dire, only 20% can identify what Net Zero means. But should we also have an education focus on #NatureLiteracy to develop the passion, knowledge & skills to protect UKs increasingly fragile biodiversity?
