My family came to Colorado in 1859 for gold. Thanks to the homestead act, they stayed. In 1875 they helped establish the railroad town of Niwot, named for Arapaho Chief Niwot (Lefthand). Yesterday we celebrated 150 years since the platting of the town.

I’m so honored! The town where my family lived near when it was founded and where my father was born in 1911 is Niwot, Colorado. The town is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the town being platted.
