Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev: the world's last Soviet
On March 19th, 2019: Kazakh President #NursultanNazarbayev announces his resignation after nearly 30 years in office, the last soviet-era head of state.
It took 28 years for #Kazakhstan to be rid of dictator/president #NursultanNazarbayev. His #HumanRights record includes the #ZhanaozenMassacre, #ThisDayInHistory in 2011. Workers at #Uzenmunaigas oil field went on #strike and were shot, with up to 70 dead. Riots & arson followed.
