1.. #UnpaidCarers should be given free financial advice re the impact of giving up employment, benefits entitlement, and pension payments. They should be supported to pay into a pension and offered 'trade union' support regardless if whether they are employed.

Some people with mobility issues or who are wheelchair users need to be rewarded too... perhaps reward swimming or other exercises otherwise the scheme is ableist. Make healthy food cheaper. Then people will have a choice of what to buy and eat. #Carer

It seems as if people will be 'supported' into voluntary work... I wonder if they will be sanctioned if they don't do it? What conditions are over medicalised? #OT_Carer

This is worth reading. How can people on benefits afford good food? Those who are able can grow their own but.... oats, rice pears, strawberries among the most affected by pesticides, herbicides, arsenic

To give a clue, we often have long traumatic stories to tell and our trauma is ongoing. GPs offer CBT via IAPT but can not do more. Carers need time and space to tell their stories to be heard and to be given opportunities fir personal growth #OT_Carer
As an OT i would try to problem solve and look at triggers etc. But as a carer I would prioritise listening, real authentic listening to the person's story. If e jump in with solutions without understanding trauma we are perpetuating a cycle of harm. Pause for thought #OT_Carer

Research may give people a general understanding of a field if practice but lived experience gives insights that may or may not uphold the research findings. We need to apply anthropological techniques to appreciate the nuances of life, perhaps starting with self reflection. #Carer
