Severe storms in central PA brought wind damage, hail, flooding and one tornado. I was a few weeks away from graduating from Penn State and I barely got any work done that day. The tornado was about 10 miles east of campus.

-180,000 customers without power.
-Hail up to 1.75".
-7 tornadoes (all EF1), 2nd most for month of March.

The tornado in Luzerne & Lackawanna Counties was rated EF2 and the York tornado was an EF1. #PAwxHistory

The flood of 1996 ranks as a top 10 crest for much of the state showing just how widespread the event was. In some locations where it ranked as the highest crest, the flood was surpassed by events in 2004 or 2011. #PAwxHistory

Dramatic snow depth changes were observed between the 18th and 20th of January 1996. Some locations saw snow depth decrease by more than 20 inches!

The winter of 1995-1996 was already cold & snowy leading up to the blizzard on January 6-7. Yet another storm on January 12-13 brought an additional 12" to 24". An impressive 36" to 50" of snow covered the ground. #PAwxHistory
