Is your organization leading #PID work at the national level? If so, would you be interested in hosting the 2026 #PIDfest - an international conference for PID users & leaders? Apply by October 7 2024 - for more information see www.pidfest.org/call-to-host...
In today's @scholarlykitchen.bsky.social post, @9thprime.bsky.social @philljones.bsky.social & @alicemeadows.bsky.social share the latest #PID-related trends & challenges covered at last month's #PIDfest meeting in Prague.

#PIDfest in Prague was a wonderful meeting for all sorts of reasons - a big one for me was catching up with some of my favorite PID people. Here are just a few of them ❤️❤️❤️
The day was to busy to report from the #PIDfest. Today was mainly unconference.
Emerging #PIDs like for conference, and awards and prices were discussed in the #unconference part I attended. It was really interesting to hear about different use cases […]
A photo of Lawrence Fishburne as the character Morpheus from the movie The Matrix asking the question 'what if I told you organisations need help choosing PIDs?' based on the popular Matrix Morpheus meme.
John Aspler and I will be moderating an unconference session on at 2pm in the PC room at #PIDfest. The topic is 'Building the PID matrix' which is would be a decision support tool to help people understand more about specific PIDs and which are right for them.
Somebody should be in Prague, talking about this at #PIDfest.
I see there's an ORCID integration. Is auto-update implemented? That will be important because it's needed for trust markers.
Now our session on conference #PIDs is starting!

Jürgen Güdler and Göde Both now introduce the idea of #PIDs for awards and prices. Very interesting and non-trivial thing, and I am happy to see @dfg_public and @KFiD_GS involved with the community at #PIDfest.
Shawn Ross of ARDC talking about the need and demand for RAiD. RAiD is now developed and currently rolling out to the first registration agencies
#PIDfest
Now "Towards Language Diversity in Scholarly Communication" by Aliaksandr Birukou of SpringerNature. Interesting questions e.g. on peer review in different languages and linking translations and their citations etc.
#PIDfest #scholarlycommunication
Now the great #DTU team (Karen Hytteballe Ibanez and Nikoline Dohm Lauridsen from #DanishTechnicalUniversity) about the Danish National Open Research Analytics (NORA) and the Research Portal #Denmark: https://forskningsportal.dk/
#PIDfest
It's lightning talk time at the #PIDfest again. It starts with #knowledgegraph enabled #repositories by Eric Olson from @CenterforOpenScience.
"A schematic representation of the PID graph with digital objects connected by PIDs, showing three use cases: A: Different versions of software code, B: Datasets hosted by a particular repository, C: All digital objects connected to a research object." I see the famous @martin visualization for the first time now on a slide at the #PIDfest.

Indeed what a nice coincidence. I wasn't aware of #PIDfest. That's a great initiative!

3/4 of the MoreBrains team made it to #PIDfest in Prague and were immediately transported back to #Renaissance times at last night’s reception 😂❤️
A slide from Julie Petro of @orcid.bsky.social about support for PIDs in national research strategies. #PIDfest
Trust and integrity of research is better served with a multi-layered trust system rather than a single gatekeeper
#PIDfest
Chris Shillum of @orcid.bsky.social kicks off the session on identity and research integrity. ORCID trust markers are part of the solution.
#PIDfest
Shawn Ross of ARDC talking about the RAiD Persistent identifier at PIDfest in Prague
Shawn Ross of Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) talking about how RAiD is being developed and what it does. #PIDfest
Now in the session "integrating @ResearchOrgs in publishing systems" with @apsmith

This blog post by @litvinovg and me gives a bit of background on the Mastodon-VIVO integration I mentioned in my lightning talk at #PIDfest:

Visualization of the VIVO Ontology, some classes and properties.
The lightning talks now start. I will - as a stand-in for Dragan Ivanovic and Michele Mennielli - have a little talk about #VIVO and #pids
#PIDfest
Interesting inputs in the first panel of the #PIDfest. Joy Owango mentioned, how important it is to become data producers instead of only consumers, with a relation to overcoming #helicopterscience on indigenous knowledge.
Caroline Finch talked about […]
Prof Caroline Finch just mentioned that the Australian Research Council is no longer doing the excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) assessment because it was found to be too burdensome.
As Prof Finch says, PIDs are the solution to enabling reporting with less burden #PIDFest
Joy Owango of the African PID alliance is explaining how PIDs can be a leveller to push back against helicopter science and appropriation, to improve research sovereignty and protect indigenous knowledge. #PIDFest
An amazing opening to #PIDfest this morning from Australian Data Research Commons and our hosts at the NTK in Prague!
Quite the start to #PIDfest. I didn't get a photo of the digeridoo performance that kicked the day off, but here's the Czech folk music and dancing.
Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to post videos here yet.
For those who like a good library, we're at the Czech National Library of Technology for #PIDfest opening reception
