One cool insight from #PSBS24 for me came from Alexander Idnurm (Uni Melbourne).
I learned about the Repeat-Induced Point Mutation (RIP) mechanism in fungi as genome defense system.

RIP can detect #TransposableElements and "kill" them through targeted mutations.
