“Isolde should have some warmer clothes for you within a few days,” their sister, Constance called out, approaching from the house. “The furs and blankets will be all you need to stay warm, once you’re working. But you have to start working first. You can choose between helping Marco and the quadruplets chop down trees or Dante and Matteo lift and place logs for the cabin. The twins, Georgi and Petri are already cutting trees to length and working with me on the joinery.” Constance was another hybrid: magical impossibilities that defied the laws of nature, laws whom the wizard Zarron broke for curiosity and profit. The only half-raccoon among the group so far, all were relieved when records confirmed she was not Zarron’s biological daughter. Their older sister, Anastasia explained how he was not a father to any of the family, at least previously. What he was up to now, she wasn't sure of. Her features were more raccoon-like, and the triplets more wolf-like than Anton and Laszlo resembled rabbits, perhaps because of their shared carnivore ancestry. Her muzzle was shorter and sharper than the canines and vulpines, and her figure thicker than her sisters and mother. Like the triplets, she could pass for either species but would invite more scrutiny if common people believed such hybrids were possible.
My #wip happens to take place somewhere quite cold, so naturally there are blankets.
