C'est une ode au travail manuel, à cette intelligence de la main qui transforme une matière brute en œuvre d'art. Une visite indispensable pour quiconque aime comprendre comment on fabrique notre monde (et nos vestiaires). 🏛️✨

Before we end the #PalaisGalliera 's Worth: Inventor of Haute Couture exhibit, I am going to do a few posts showing some other non-outfit posts that the museum had on display. One such incredible collection of items was these sketches of Worth's fancy dress costumes from #VandAMuseum.

Another purple coat for you all- this one is a 1910 Worth silk chiffon with metallic-threaded embroidery. I mean, just look at that embroidery! Exquisite! Interestingly, this is from the Louis Vuitton collection. #FashionHistory #ootd #palaisGalliera

Here is another Worth garment from the 1910s- this one made of brocaded satin and decorated with pearl appliques and passementerie (those braided cords). #PalaisGalliera states that the passementerie is an example of how Paul Poiret influenced Worth...a decade after he left the

#PalaisGalliera highlighted this 1910 dinner dress when referencing the House of Worth's prominence on the Rue de la Paix (number 7). The house itself exhibited an elegant facade with electric lighting and displayed various countries' flags when heads of state, like Russian Tsars

Another Rue de la Paix couturier, two doors down from Worth in the opposite direction, was Jacques Doucet. The #PalaisGalliera had this 1905 summer dress on show. It's a linen dress with embroidery, Valencienne lace, and a black velvet belt. #fashionhistory #ootd
