The Black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) is a small to medium-sized gull species found in Europe, Asia, North America, and parts of North Africa. As the name suggests, it has a black head (chocolate-brown on closer inspection) during the breeding season, which contrasts with its white body and gray wings. Outside of the breeding season, the head turns mostly white with dark smudges behind the eyes. The black-headed gull has a red bill and legs, and its eyes are dark brown.
