A murky-watered pond filled with lotus leaves. In the center are a pair of dog-like animals playfully bickering over a dead, rodent-like creature in the bloody jaws of the left-facing beast.

Did a Passing Star Cause Earth to Warm 56 Million Years Ago? If our Solar System seems stable, it's because our short lifespans make it seem that way.

PANEL 1. Two baby primates, BROTHER and SISTER, sleep in a tree hollow. They look almost identical. It is daytime outside.
PANEL 2. Brother lifts his head, opens his eyes, and looks around. Unlike Sister, who has no erupted teeth yet, he has one tooth, always visible.
BROTHER - Mamma?
PANEL 3. Brother goes to the opening and looks out. Sister is still asleep.
BROTHER - Mamma, where you go?
PANEL 4. Brother goes to wake Sister up. She opens one eye.
BROTHER - Hey, I not see Mamma.
SISTER (WEAK) - Hmm?
PANEL 5. Sister gets up. They both look around the hollow.
SISTER - Where she go?
BROTHER - I not know.
PANEL 6. A predatory bird’s foot (LONGWINGS’) comes through the opening, talons open. Sister looks at it with a start. Brother turns to look at it in horror.
SISTER (BURST) - Skraak!
