Six years ago we did a @californiaparks.bsky.social #ParkChampions #volunteer workday at Palomar Mountain State Park. We did some weeding around the historic apple orchard (see photo of the weeds embedded in my shoe). Then we hiked around and found lots of native wildflowers.

On that @californiaparks.bsky.social #ParkChampions workday at Cuyamaca State Park, we filled large dumpsters with wood/debris from the Cedar fire. That photo looking down, shows Dave, the Maintenance Supervisor, resting. Dave was one of the kindest people I ever met. He died a couple years later💔.

That time we volunteered at the #SaltonSea with California State Parks Foundation as #ParkChampions. We dug irrigation trenches and installed plumbing to water the trees we planted.
