The cover of a book called Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively.
Fell headfirst into this 1987 Booker Prize-winning novel and emerged gasping with wonder.
An enthralling story of a complex woman spiced with thought-provoking meditations on the nature of history, and history writing.

The cover of a small 1980s paperback - "The House in Norham Gardens" by Penelope Lively, which shows a teenage girl holding a ceremonial tribal shield standing in front of a victorian house.
New read: the next stop on my slow chronological readthrough of one of my favourite writers - this is one I never came across as a kid. A little less on the ghostly side, but a gentle joy, nonetheless.

Utterly immersed in an old copy of #PenelopeLively #PassingOn, given to me by a thoughtful pal. What an incredible observer of human motives and family dynamics she is. Beautifully written, weighted and paced too. Sheer perfection!
Wish I'd read that with you instead of the 715 page commercial-drip-parading-as-literature for my (usually good) neighborhood bookclub. About to delve into #PenelopeLively to cleanse the palate.
The museum was filled with literary references. Here a dish that is actually in a favourite book of mine: Moon Tiger by #PenelopeLively
