My 5yo daughter has her first 聽寫 (dictation) next week so I was testing her on 左右 (left, right). Her question to me was, “Is 左 the one with an ‘I’ or a ‘box’?” And I just love her fluid translingual sense making. 🫶🏽 #PhDad #translanguaging

This morning, I had the steamer, air fryer, microwave, and toaster running simultaneously as I prepped kids' breakfasts and lunches, and it felt like the same part of my brain when I (unsuccessfully) toggle between manuscripts. #PhDad

Spent the weekend with divided attention, grading seven different assignments across my four classes (please clap) but also in and out of focus with the kids. I'm usually good about protecting my weekends but this semester has been kicking my butt. Momentarily caught up... #PhDad

On board my flight to #CATESOL23 and SO excited to fly BY MYSELF (i.e, without children). I can listen to music, read, sleep, watch something, do whatever I want! If only the flight were longer than an hour… #kingoftheskies #PhDad
