Floor Crossings in Canadian politics is not a new thing. What is new however is the unprofessional rhetoric that is being displayed by Pierre Pollievre's Conservative party that is driving ignorance fueled rage on the Internet. Lori ldlout's job is to represent the people of Nunavut. Not the NDP not a party, the people. It makes complete sense for her to join the Liberal government to have a seat at the table when the North is such a huge focus of military and economic investment. It was happening whether she crossed or not but as a member of the Liberal Caucus shell have far more influence in how that investment is managed than holding onto her party' that has no power at all. And that's the problem. We elect people to represent people. Yet politics has turned into a team game where elected officials are expected to put their party before the people they represent.
When Lori Idlout crossed, the NDP said they were disappointed'. When 3 Conservative MPs crossed, the Conservative party called them traitors. And the online hate has been swift to follow. The majority of Canadians support Mark Carney. I know that pisses some people off, but it's true. Pollievre is losing support of not just Canadians but his own party as he continues to follow the far right line and refuses to listen to what Canadians have been telling him election after election Canada is a centrist country. Carney is a centrist, more of a Red Tory. It makes sense that the Progressive Conservatives in the country and in Pollievre's party would resonate with Carney as a leader. MPs are sworn to represent their regions, ALL of the people in it, not their party and not those that demand lifetime party loyalty. MPs are allowed to cross, have always crossed. Trying to demonize them only when they cross to a team you don't like, undermines the integrity of our government, of our country. And as Pollievre continues to do it, he continues to prove he's unfit to lead,

We need new legislation specific to any homes left vacant by foreign investors - an "unoccupied" tax to fund not for profit home initiatives. We also need a rent increase cap to slow the housing crisis. And we need more attention on landlords like #pierrepollievre who has become a millionaire - how?
