Just yesterday I was talking with some Chicagoans about how amazing it was that in 1909, Daniel Burnham had the foresight and generosity to put protection of the lakefront for the people into the Chicago Plan and that no one has dared to take that away. #PlacesForAll
I love good use of colour in public spaces!
(I consider this good colour because it's not child-coded. Even teenagers would love this, I think.)

Graduate assistant Mattie and undergraduate interns AshΓ© and Socrates hard at "work" in Chicago's Austin neighborhood. They're supposed to be recruiting but it seems to me that they're doing a lot of eating. #PlacesForAll

Another gorgeous Chicago #PublicSpace. The Bean ("Cloud Gate" when she's being naughty) is a deceptively simple but endlessly interactive installation that even locals can't get enough of. #SocialInfrastructure that really brings people together. #PlacesForAll

Three women leaning in together and facing the camera: intern AshΓ© Vaughn, Hermitage Street Community Garden creator Cordia Pugh, and public spaces researcher Kimberly Quinn.
Visited the inimitable Cordia Pugh at Hermitage Street Community Garden yesterday with my intern AshΓ© Vaughn. Had such a great time listening to Cordia's wisdom and getting insights on neighborhood and community from Chicago's Hood Heroes! #PublicSpaces #PlacesForAll
Poster recruiting Chicago residents to participate in research on public spaces across Chicago. The graphic depicts a stylized Chicago skyline in black, with the "reflection" on the lake showing trees and green space. Chicago residents are invited to email PARC@depaul.edu if interested in participating.
Calling all Chicago residents! Please share your experiences across Chicagoland's public spaces and help us document how these experiences shape how Chicagoans connect with community. Chicago friends, please share widely!

We need physical spaces for serendipitous, productivity-free conversation. #Urbanism #PublicSpace #PlacesForAll
Okay, now that I've recovered from my excitement, I want to add a shout-out to my amazing collaborators: Sophie Trawalter, Kim Meidenbauer, Michelle Stuhlmacher, and Leidy Klotz. It takes a team like this to make the magic happen.
