Barge about to go under water at the Old River Control Structure - Low Sill facility.  Photo was taken by Corp of Engineers, May 3rd and 5th 1964.  

This structure is at the north tip of Pointe Coupee Parish where the Mississippi, Red and Atchafalaya rivers meet.  The locks divert water from the Mississippi River into the Red River where a few miles south it becomes the Atchafalaya.
