Photo of a cluster of small, white flowers with tubular, 5-lobed corollas. Each flower has five small stamens. The anthers, borne just above the throat of the flower, have bright blue pollen.

Collomia grandiflora (by Ken-ichi Ueda CCBYNC2) is another #Polemoniaceae. Like the flower in yesterday’s post, this one has strikingly blue pollen. To our eyes, the contrast with the corolla is obvious, but pollinators might see it differently. #pollen #color #Botany #PlantScience 🌾🧪

So much going on with Langloisia setosissima ssp. punctata (Don Davis CCBYNCND2)! Blue pollen, the dark central “eye,” yellow false-anthers (false-nectaries?) on the petals, and lots of little spots. It would be interesting to know what bees see. #Polemoniaceae #pollen #Botany #PlantScience 🌾🧪
